From nurse to Integration Team Coordinator

Starting a new chapter in another country is not an easy step—it takes a lot of courage! Something Laura Camila Murcia Aristizabal knows very well.
Laura Camila was born and raised in Bogotá. Laura’s desire to learn new languages and discover other cultures led her to look for opportunities beyond her home country of Colombia. She therefore completed the final semester of her studies in Brazil. After graduating as a nurse from Fundación Ciencias de la Salud FUCS, she decided to broaden her expertise and gain international experience. While working as a pediatric nurse in Soacha, she ultimately learned about the TalentOrange program.
Laura applied, taking the first step into an exciting adventure. She attended one of our intensive German courses at the Goethe-Institut in Bogotá. Despite the challenges of learning a complex language like German, Laura Camila remained persistent, determined, and committed. After six months of intensive learning in Bogotá and continuing the language course in Germany, she was finally ready for the next chapter.
In February 2020, Laura Camila began working at Sana Klinikum Offenbach. Her passion for nursing and her desire to share her knowledge ultimately led her to pursue further training as a Praxisanleiterin. Today, she supervises trainees on the wards for Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Neurology.
In addition, she increasingly became a key support for her new international colleagues. She is actively involved in integration and transcultural education initiatives at her hospital. For example, she took part in training programs addressing the importance of adapting nursing care to patients’ diverse cultural and social needs. Her goal is to promote inclusion and improve the quality of healthcare for all patients, regardless of their background or culture. By now, she is the coordinator of the integration team at Sana Klinikum.
We wish you continued success, dear Laura Camila!
