Our international trainees excel in their training with flying colours

“You are the professionals of tomorrow. With your help, we will succeed in safeguarding the care of our patients.” With these words, Nils Dehe, Director of Nursing at Sana Klinikum Offenbach, congratulated the newly qualified nurses at the graduation ceremony of our international nursing cohort. Three years earlier, he had taken the bold step of enrolling an entire class of school leavers with foreign qualifications into the generalist nursing training programme. At Sana Klinikum, they completed the largest part of their practical training (2500 hours), while at the TalentOrange nursing school they completed the theoretical component (2100 hours). All of them passed their exams with good and very good grades. The success of this group proves Dehe right: “This is a forward-looking path. Because it is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit trainees for nursing.” Thanks to international trainees, Sana Klinikum was able to increase its training capacity by 50%.

Almost every hospital and care provider is familiar with the problem: nursing school cohorts can hardly be filled with suitable candidates anymore—due to demographic factors alone. Baby boomers are retiring, and smaller cohorts are following. Some of the young people who start the generalist training programme drop out in the very first year. This is quite different for international trainees, because they have consciously chosen the path to Germany and into nursing—and have left a great deal behind at home. “Motivation, ambition and team spirit are very strongly pronounced among international trainees,” says Doris Westphal, Head of the TalentOrange nursing school. “It’s a pleasure to teach them.” At the graduation ceremony, Director of Nursing Nils Dehe expressed his great respect for the group: “It is an exceptional achievement to complete vocational training in another country.” This was also made possible thanks to strong practice mentors and dedicated nursing educators. Dr Tilman Frank, founder and Managing Director of TalentOrange GmbH, also congratulated all trainees on their success and perseverance. “Our nursing campus model has proven its worth.” Most of the newly qualified nursing professionals are staying at Sana Klinikum. We will miss you!

Meanwhile, there has been a changeover of rooms at the TalentOrange nursing campus in Neu-Isenburg: the fourth cohort of international trainees starts there on 1 October. The young people who have just arrived come from India (8), Brazil (6), Colombia (4), and Morocco (3). Unfortunately, four nursing students are still waiting for their visas. For the time being, they are taking part in lessons online. All of our trainees completed their school-leaving qualifications and a nursing placement in their home countries. We organised the preparatory language course up to level B2 for them and took care of all official procedures. In their first year, they live in rooms in our student residence hall. What is special about our concept: the TalentOrange language school works closely with the nursing school. Before each new subject-related chapter, the language teachers practise the relevant vocabulary with the class.

And while this course is getting underway, our recruiters are on the ground in the countries of origin to meet young people who want to start the generalist nursing training programme in Germany in October 2025. Brazil, Morocco, Colombia and India are the countries from which we select suitable and motivated candidates. In the countries of origin, our language courses take place up to level B2; classes are taught by certified “German as a Foreign Language” teachers. For candidates, the entire process is free of charge, including the language course. This is because we hold the  quality seal "Fair Recruitment Healthcare Germany"  and apply the same ethical standards to trainees as well.

In the meantime, we are not only looking for talented candidates for our own nursing school, but also for two university hospitals in Northern Germany. If you would like to commission us to find high-performing trainees as well, please contact JavaScript aktivieren.
