First registered nurses from Myanmar start their careers in Germany

It is a major step into a new life: in October 2024, the first of our nursing professionals from Myanmar arrived in Germany—a significant milestone for both the talents and TalentOrange. The recruitment of nursing professionals from Myanmar is only just beginning. Additional talents are currently still attending the language course at TalentOrange’s partner school in Myanmar. For some of them, suitable employers in Germany are still being sought.
Myanmar is a country with a very young population. Around a quarter of its residents are under 15 years of age, yet despite strong training prospects, it is difficult for qualified nursing professionals with a four-year degree to find appropriate employment. In many cases, the economic situation and the healthcare system do not offer sufficient opportunities to retain talent locally. The six nursing professionals who recently arrived in Germany decided a year ago to change this situation. They began an intensive German course in Myanmar and are now, with a B2 language certificate in hand, ready to launch their careers in Germany. The speed and determination with which they pursued this path is a testament to their commitment and courage.
But their journey does not end there. The next step for the nursing professionals is the four-week knowledge exam preparation course, which is offered in person by the TalentOrange nursing school. For this course, the educators travel directly to the Lahn-Dill-Kliniken to prepare the talents as effectively as possible for their exam. This exam is an important milestone, as it enables the talents to have the qualifications they acquired in their home country recognized in Germany. The secret to the course’s success lies in the combination of full-time training and additional instruction in Nursing technical language. This not only deepens professional knowledge, but also brings language skills up to the level required to work successfully in the German healthcare system. The figures show that this concept works: more than 95% of participants pass the exam and are able to successfully continue their professional careers in Germany.
Recruiting and integrating international professionals is of great importance for the German healthcare system. The shortage of skilled workers in nursing is a well-known challenge, which is eased by attracting qualified professionals from abroad. TalentOrange bridges the gap between demand and supply and offers young people from countries such as Myanmar the opportunity to build a career perspective in Germany. For the talents from Myanmar, this opportunity means not only a secure income, but also the chance to fully realize their potential and work in an environment that values and supports their qualifications. Looking ahead
The first nursing professionals from Myanmar have already arrived in Germany, and many more will follow. With a structured integration process that provides both language and professional support, TalentOrange demonstrates how international recruitment leads to success.
TalentOrange and its partners, such as the Lahn-Dill-Kliniken, make it possible for talented nursing professionals from all over the world to find a professional home in Germany—a win-win situation for both sides. The success story that began with the talents from Myanmar will undoubtedly add many more chapters. We look forward to continuing to support the nursing professionals on their journey and are convinced: with this concept, many more talents will make the leap into a new life.
