The TalentOrange Alumni Community Is Growing

Five federal states, many reunions, one goal: the TalentOrange alumni community continues to grow. For a little over a year now, TalentOrange has been bringing together former trainees and skilled professionals on a regular basis—with great success. What began in November 2024 with an initial alumni get-together as part of an Oktoberfest at the TalentOrange campus in Neu-Isenburg quickly developed into a vibrant community. At the end of November, the third get-together in Hesse already took place: a joint visit to the Christmas market, where familiar faces reconnected and new contacts were made.
The idea of an alumni community has been around for a long time. In recent years, many talents had wished for more support—especially after arriving in Germany. In the past, there was neither a Welcome Team nor dedicated contacts, and some therefore felt left on their own during the first few weeks. “We wanted to make sure that no one has to walk this path alone,” explains Karen Torres Serrano from the Welcome Team.
Today, the community is an important anchor point: talents connect, organize joint excursions, share experiences, and support one another in everyday life. The alumni are particularly active in the five regional WhatsApp groups (Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, NRW, Lower Saxony, and Schleswig-Holstein). Tips are shared twice a week there: one cultural and one practical—plus information on events and get-togethers. In recent months, alumni picnics have taken place across Germany (“a perfect German weekend plan: hiking plus a picnic”), as well as various online events on integration and communication.
For TalentOrange, this development is a very positive sign. Many team members still remember the talents from their first days in Germany—making it all the more impressive to see the progress they make after just a few months. The in-person meet-ups also create an open dialogue about how they are doing—personally and at work. This builds trust and at the same time enables valuable quality control: How are things going with employers? Where are there good examples—and where are the challenges?
A key element remains the Talents Office Hours, which continue far beyond the alumni program. Anyone who needs support—whether with bureaucracy, emergencies, loneliness, or worries—can easily book an appointment. If needed, TalentOrange also refers talents to trusted psychological specialist services, helping ensure that no one is left alone. The Christmas market meet-ups and other activities show that the alumni community is not only growing—it strengthens talents in the long term and creates genuine connections. And that is exactly what it is all about: We are here for you—even well beyond the initial period in Germany.
