Good news from India: we have opened a new location in the most populous country in the world. In Trivandrum, the capital of the southern state of Kerala, we were able to establish our third language school. At the end of November, we moved into a new, freshly renovated three-storey building. The other foreign locations of our language school are in São Paulo, Brazil, and Bogotá, Colombia. Our language teachers from Germany now take it in turns to travel to Trivandrum for a few months at a time to support the local team of language teachers with their induction training.
In India, the pressure to emigrate is high because there are too few jobs for well-educated people. But competition from English-speaking countries is fierce. We are looking for those fully trained specialists who are not afraid to learn German in order to work in local clinics.
We have also already recruited highly motivated school leavers in India who will start their three-year training as nurses at our nursing school in Neu-Isenburg in October 2023. Their employer is the Sana Clinic in Offenbach. So that they can communicate with patients and colleagues right from the start and follow the specialist lessons well, they have previously learned German up to level B2 in our courses. They took their exam at the Goethe Center in Trivandrum.
Completing a dual training program in Germany to become a nurse is extremely attractive for young Indian adults. The alternative would be to study for a bachelor's degree to become a nurse in their home country, for which their families would have to pay the tuition fees. After graduation, job prospects are uncertain as there are too many applicants and too few positions. Here, on the other hand, the young people can finance themselves from their trainee salary and are almost guaranteed a job afterwards, because as a nursing specialist you are never unemployed in Germany. Most of the young people even manage to send a little money home from their trainee salary to support their families. Their motivation and will to persevere are very strong, because they see a great opportunity for themselves in training.
In this way, we are building a bridge between employers in Germany, who are looking for skilled workers and trainees, and young people in India who want to build a good career in Germany or continue their career here. In the end, it should be a win-win situation for both sides. Learning German is the first step!
