From nurse to coordinator of the integration team

Starting a new chapter in another country is not an easy step - it takes a lot of courage! Something that Laura Camila Murcia Aristizabal knows very well.

Laura Camila was born and raised in Bogotá. Laura's desire to learn new languages and discover other cultures led her to look for opportunities outside her home country of Colombia. She completed the last semester of her studies in Brazil. After graduating as a nurse at the Fundación Ciencias de la Salud FUCS, she decided to broaden her knowledge and gain international experience. While working as a nurse in pediatrics in Soacha, she learned about the TalentOrange program.

Laura applied and took the first step into an exciting adventure. She took part in one of our intensive German courses at the Goethe-Institut in Bogotá. Despite the difficulties of learning a complex language like German, Laura Camila remained persistent, determined and committed. After six months of intensive learning in Bogotá and continuing the language course in Germany, she was finally ready for the next chapter.

Laura Camila started working at Sana Klinikum Offenbach in February 2020. Her passion for nursing and her desire to share her knowledge eventually led her to train as a practical instructor. Today, she supervises trainees on the internal medicine, cardiology and neurology wards.

In addition, she has increasingly become a support for her new international colleagues. She is involved in integration and transcultural education initiatives at her clinic. For example, she participated in training programs that addressed the importance of adapting nursing care to the diverse cultural and social needs of patients. Her goal is to promote inclusion and improve the quality of healthcare for all patients, regardless of their origin or culture. She is now the coordinator of the integration team at the Sana Klinikum.

We wish you continued success, dear Laura Camila!
